Where Are You Now? 1990-1999
The 90's were a particularly exciting time for Sunderland. In 1992, Sunderland Polytechnic gained university status and became the University of Sunderland with Dr Anne Wright named as the University's first Vice-Chancellor. Later in 1994, the University opened St Peter's Campus with the Schools of Business, Law and Psychology situated on campus. This was further developed in 1996 when The David Goldman Informatics Centre opened. Two years later in 1998, Oscar-winning film producer Lord Puttnam of Queensgate CBE became the University's first Chancellor.
