Here at Sunderland we have a long tradition of building great things. On the site of the world famous former shipyards of the River Wear, the University built a new campus to reflect its life changing impact and truly global reach. The Sir Tom Cowie Campus at St Peter's compliments the City Campus on Chester Road (home to the former Wearmouth Hall) and was opened in the 1990's to reflect the University's growth and transformational role in the region.
We are proud of the heritage of our institution, the city we are based in and the people who have studied on our courses. Alumni constitute our former graduates, the individuals who came to Sunderland from across the world and from a variety of routes and backgrounds to develop their learning and share knowledge.
Through the Alumni Association we celebrate all the things which brought our students together during their time at the University and former Polytechnic. The Association exists to keep you informed about the University, its successes and futures plans, and give you the opportunity to network with other Sunderland graduates who have a common and shared interest.
The Alumni Association is managed by the Development & Alumni Office and was re-launched in 2013 to support greater alumni engagement.
Our key aims are to:
- Increase alumni participation significantly across the University
- Improve our knowledge on alumni career paths and build greater opportunity for students and recently graduated alumni
- Re-establish contact with alumni whom we have lost contact with in recent years
- Develop and increase support for current students and graduates up to ten years out of University
We encourage you to engage through our global network, come back and visit us in Sunderland for a reunion, become one of our ‘Super Alumni’, help in our recruitment activities and join us at one of our upcoming events.
