Barry Lee Chi Hong
BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering 1991
After graduating from the Sunderland Polytechnic in 1991, Barry completed a master's degree in Environmental Management at the University of Hong Kong and a master's degree in Business Administration at the Deakins University in Australia. He also completed a PhD in Business Administration at the City University of Hong Kong.
Barry is the Associate Director at the Environmental Engineering Operation of ATAL Engineering Limited, a multi-disciplinary electrical and mechanical engineering company in Hong Kong. He leads a team of 120 electrical, chemical, environmental and mechanical engineers and technicians and is responsible for the environmental engineering part.
Barry is a ‘Chartered Engineer’ and ‘Chartered Water and Environment Manager’ in the UK and a Registered Professional Engineer in Hong Kong. He is a fellow member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management.
Barry was actively involved in the local learned societies of engineers. He was elected as the Chairman of Mechanical, Marine, Naval Architecture and Chemical Division of Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. He is currently the Vice-chairman of Hong Kong Branch of Institution of Mechanical Engineers and the Vice-chairman of Hong Kong Waste Management Association.
Barry was also appointed as a member of a number of Appeal Boards by the Government of Hong Kong SAR and a member of the External Examiners and the Course Accreditation Panel of various Mechanical Engineering Programme Boards of Vocational Training Council.
