Daniel Greener
BA Creative Arts 1999
Dan is a highly experienced singer and rhythm guitar player who has played as a solo artist and in original and cover bands for 10 years. He has recorded for EMI, has performed on BBC Radio 1, 6 XFM and Virgin Radio, has played in theatres bars, stately houses venues and concert halls and toured England, Japan, Spain, France, Germany and even the Caribbean.
However, Dan considers that his biggest achievements have been the release of a single with his original band, The Toy Guns, through EMI and doing an album and tour of Japan with the band.
Dan started playing when he was 19 years old and he says his biggest challenge is to continue to create new ideas for writing and recording and keeping performances fresh.
When asking the 37-year-old about how he enjoyed his course at the University, he replies: “The course was very good and it fitted in with what I was doing and interested in at the time - I'd recently done a HND in Music Theatre. The Sunderland's course gave me an opportunity to jump in Year 3 and top up to a degree. I found the course interesting, free - in that it gave me ample opportunity to be creative and express my ideas, supportive and ultimately satisfying.”
Dan works regularly for at private weddings, functions and events with live music booking agency Function Central.
