
Art & Design 'Global Challenges' Scholarship 2023-24
The University is the recipient of a generous donation from eminent architect Mike Davies CBE, to support students studying art and design subjects.
Mike is renowned for his extraordinary contribution to innovative architecture, building engineering and glass technology and his 50 year career has involved him with projects such as the Pompidou Centre Paris, Lloyd's of London, the Millenium Dome and Heathrow Terminal 5.
A passionate supporter of the University of Sunderland, Mike has helped to devise the 'Global Challenges' scholarship which will support students in undertaking a project or opportunity to develop creative practice for the potential benefit of others whilst tackling current global challenges.
How to apply
This programme awards up to 5 annual scholarships of up to £1,000 and is available to full-time/part-time Home/EU/OS students studying at Sunderland Campus and studying one of the following disciplines:
- Artist Designer Maker: Glass and Ceramics (Stage 2 and 3)
- Fine Art (Stage 2 and 3)
- Photography Video and Digital Imaging (Stage 2 and 3)
- Graphic Design (Stage 2 and 3)
- Illustration and Design (Stage 2 and 3)
- Animation and Games Art (Stage 2 and 3)
- Fashion Design and Promotion (Stage 2 and 3)
- MA Design
- MA Visual Practice
- PhDs in the School of Art and Design
Applications to this programme are currently open. Please email your completed application to development.office@sunderland.ac.uk by the closing date of 23rd February 2024 along with your supporting evidence.
Applications will be assessed by the awarding committee and selection will be based upon the criteria downloadable below.
