Sustainable Childrenswear for Future Toddlers
Libby Martindale was one of 5 awarded the Mike Davies Global Challenges Scholarship and applied for £1000 to use towards developing her small sustainable fashion brand, Toddle & Ted.
Libby, was one of the few who asked to present to the committee to explain how the funds would really support her, “ When applying for this scholarship I was given the opportunity to speak to the panel for the award. The panel absolutely loved my idea of creating sustainable products to sell online, with a focus on creating organic/eco-friendly items to buy as gifts for younger children and infants, “ Libby said.
The Scholarship was used to purchase multiple marketing materials to get the business going as well as creating a comfortable office space at home due to Libby becoming a first time parent during this time. This allowed for her to be more creative from home to build the brand and continue growing the business.
I also spoke to some advisers at the enterprise place, who also suggested starting the business with small products to generate some profit in which I can then use to put towards creating larger products”.
Libby said, “Overall, from receiving this scholarship, I can say I have successfully launched my own small fashion business, by having this funding I have been able to purchase marketing products and fabrics to create products to sell to the public. I am over the moon to say that my brand strives to be sustainable in all aspects and fully supports the Global Challenges Scholarship values”.
