Business and Management graduate Bilal, originally from Pakistan, isn’t ready to leave Sunderland behind quite yet. Bilal, who took part in many University schemes, including time working at Sunderland-based Grundfos UK, under Human Resources Director and Sunderland graduate Catherine Attwell, and spent his final year as President of the University of Sunderland Business School Society, has now been appointed President of the Students' Union.

Bilal, who will officially take over the role from current President Chloe Jackson immediately after the summer graduations, said: “I really respect this University, it gave me a really good education, and all the staff have been really supportive.

“My mission as Union President is to keep everyone happy. I’m the first Pakistani Students Union President in the history of Sunderland, and that means a lot to me.

“Wherever you go, whatever you do, don’t forget your University, don’t forget what this University gave to you, and wherever you end up in the future you will be there because of the University of Sunderland. Don’t forget your University, and try to give something back.”
