Do you have any special memories and photos of Wearmouth Hall?
The University's infamous Wearmouth Hall was a much loved and well cherished feature of student life for thousands of Sunderland students over the decades. This popular hall of residence became a hub for student life at the University and its predecessor institutions when it was opened in the 1960’s. Over eleven floors high, the residence towered above campus next to the Edinburgh Building and was home to a shop, canteen venue hall and of course student bar.
Wearmouth Hall was demolished in 2008/2009 and the site is now occupied by CitySpace, the University's sports and functions facility.
We know Sunderland alumni have such fond memories of the Wearmouth Hall and we’d like to use this page as a platform to share your Wearmouth stories and photographs of all that was happening in the student scene at the time.
If you have any memories and photographs you'd wish to share that can be added to the website we'd love to hear from you. Email alumni@sunderland.ac.uk with your memories and photos. You can also share your memories with us on Facebook or on Twitter using the #Wearmouthmemories hashtag.
It would also be great if you could update us with what you are doing now and what you have gone on to achieve since your time here at Sunderland. This could be great for our Where Are You Now section, devoted to sharing stories of what Sunderland Alumni have gone on to achieve.
