Roseanne thrives at the heart of the fashion magazine world

Roseanne Bradley

The Futures Fund Opportunity Scholarship allowed Roseanne Bradley to complete a two-week placement at the leading fashion magazine in London, Hello.

The placement was a great opportunity for Roseanne to experience what it was like to work in a functioning newsroom with the fashion magazine’s team.

Roseanne, who is in her final year of her Fashion Journalism degree, explained: “During my time at Hello I worked on many projects and a piece of my own work will appear in their June issue which helps me enormously as I can build up a portfolio of published editorial work. As well as this, I was able to post several articles on their website hellofashion.com.

“Luckily for me, my placement took place over London Fashion Week and I was offered the chance to attend a few Fashion Week shows – which was fabulous. Without the Futures Fund this never would have happened!"

Roseanne believes that this placement has not only supported her studies but it has also given her a better chance of finding a job post-graduation, having had experience in a working newsroom.

She said: “I have proven to the team at the magazine how passionate I am about journalism and their brand. I made many industry connections and met the whole team at Hello, including the Editor, Juliet Herd, who took my email for future reference. They even suggested I keep in touch and consider a future internship with them.”

With a career in Fashion journalism on the horizon, she paid tribute to the donors who helped her make the placement possible.

“I’d like to thank the Futures Fund donors for their support and contribution of funds. This was an invaluable experience, which outside of London I would not have gained or thrived as much," she said. “London is the heart of the fashion magazine world in the UK and without the funding from the Futures Fund I would have been unable to support myself during my placement.”
