Giving to Sunderland
Philanthropic donations make a huge difference to the University’s ability to support current students and the strategic ambitions that fuel the University's continued growth. Throughout the history of the University, former polytechnic and associated colleges, Sunderland has benefited from the generous donations made its students, staff, alumni, charitable organisations and friends.
There are a number of ways that you can support us - make a secure online donation today or consider an alternative below:
Make A Regular Donation
Regular monthly donations are a great way to make a big difference and support current students through scholarships and bursaries. The Futures Fund is our annual fund, established in 2005 to provide financial support for professional development and student hardship.
To make a regular gift to the Fund please download our gift form and return to us. If you would like to learn more about regular giving by salary sacrifice contact the team.
Leave a Legacy
Legacies have been making a huge difference across the University for decades supporting student scholarship, glass making and prizes. Remembering Sunderland in your Will is a tax effective way that can benefit your Estate and additional beneficiaries. For further information on how to leave a legacy gift to the University please read our legacy brochure. The team can discuss this further with you and any specific opportunities you would like your legacy gift to provide.
Donations over £5,000 constitute a major donation to the University. The Office works closely with individual donors, trust and foundations and companies to agree an appropriate area of support and develop a plan for delivery over a set time period.

Give as you Earn
Payroll giving is a tax effective way for employees to give to the Development Trust. Donations are taken before tax, this means the donors get immediate tax relief on their gift. Payroll donations are deducted from an employee's pre-tax or gross salary, reducing the total amount of income tax that the donor will need to pay.
Giving to the Development Trust is easy, simply decide the amount you want to give monthly, complete the payroll giving form here and submit to the payroll team in Human Resources.
