The Robson Art and Design Scholarship allowed first year, BA Fine Art student, Steviee Brookes to have an amazing start to Uni life.
Steviee said “Thanks to this financial support I had been awarded I was able to have an amazing first year and getting me involved in the university way of life”.
The scholarship has allowed Steviee to focus the course without having to worry about the cost of materials. Not only did it help with University work but Steviee also used some of the scholarship to travel to and from campus. “The first thing I did with the scholarship was to put some on my Pop card, this card allows me to get cheaper travel fare on the local Tyne and Wear Metro system. Being a student who lives with their family and must take public transport to and from university every day, it was a relief to not have to worry about that aspect. While this aspect seems small it took so much stress away, knowing I would be able to attend every day”, said Steviee.
“Secondly, was “paint butter” from Jackson's Art Store, this first year of university I got to experience oil paint for the first time and being a fan of impressionist styles I wanted to get a more impasto style. Then thirdly was fine plaster cast”.
“Thank you so much for this opportunity, it really did make such an improvement to my time at the university”.
