Smiles and happiness were written all over the faces of 289 students who attended two separate academic awards ceremonies at SEGi College Penang.
During the first ceremony, a total of 197 students shared their achievement with friends and family members at the college’s University of Sunderland academic awards ceremony 2015.
Student representative Seow Chen Wei, in his speech, reminded his peers not to stop learning in preparing for upcoming challenges.
“People can easily surpass us if we remain satisfied with where we are.
“Look at how Apple had outdone Nokia in the mobile phone industry. We can learn something from this episode,” he said.
The 42-year-old was the only student who graduated with a distinction in Masters of Business Administration (MBA), an impressive feat considering he had to juggle his time between studies, work and family.
Seow said his employers and family had been supportive throughout the two years of his part-time studies.
University of Sunderland Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Julie Mennell congratulated all the students for their achievement.
“Celebrate this moment, remember those who helped make it possible and look forward to the future with pride, enthusiasm and passion,” she said.
