Photography, Video and Digital Imaging student Phoebe Wymes-Arthur received support from the Sunderland Robson Art & Design Scholarship which helped her continue with her studies from home during the pandemic.

COVID-19 had an impact on Phoebe’s studies especially when it came to accessing the full range of media equipment that is usually available for students. However, the funding she received enabled her to purchase her own camera.

Phoebe said: “I’ve been able to buy a good quality camera which I can use for the rest of my studies. It’s been incredibly beneficial as I’ve been able to get on with my projects while at home and continue with my projects locally. I’ve not had to worry about borrowing equipment from the university.”

She added: “I continued living at home during the COVID-19 lockdown and having my own camera has been so useful. My old camera didn’t have all the facilities and functions that we were being taught about at university.

Phoebe concluded: “Thanks to the Scholarship I was able to carry on taking photos and working on my university projects and the camera was such a huge help under the circumstances.”
