Illustration and Design student Nadia Heron has seen her studies supported in ways she never imagined through the Robson Art and Design Scholarship.

A passion for Art and Design prompted Nadia to apply and she was awarded the Scholarship for her first year of study.

Nadia said: “Being estranged I knew I wouldn’t have the support and help I would need throughout my studies. The Scholarship helped me on my way and made me believe in my work, self and artistic abilities.”

Nadia has been able to purchase equipment to help her achieve her goal of becoming a concept artist having previously used her mobile phone for digital work. She was also able to purchase a laptop which was a major help during COVID-19 when most of her lessons were held online.

Nadia explained: “I bought a great graphics tablet which has helped my digital work blossom and I’ve created work I am very proud of.

“I have been able to buy brilliant artist materials to further my coursework such as Prisma colour pencils and Winsor and Newton watercolours to explore different mediums in my work and develop my techniques.”

Nadia has seen an improvement in her work as well as her confidence as a result of the Scholarship.

She concluded: “The Scholarship has helped not only my work but the confidence I have in my work. I’ve been given the artistic freedom to really enjoy university without worry of whether I can afford materials that help an artist grow.”
