The University of Sunderland invites you to take part in Sustainability Week 2025, running from 6th – 9th May. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase your interests, research, products, or initiatives, inspire others, and contribute to a more sustainable future.
Ways to get involved
1️⃣ Run a Workshop, Talk, or Activity
We’d love to hear how your society, organisation, or business would like to get involved—whether by leading a workshop, hosting a discussion, organising an activity, or setting up a stall at our Sustainability Fair.
Here are just a few ideas:
✅ Hands-on workshops – DIY upcycling, sustainable fashion and art, eco-friendly or traditional cooking methods, biodiversity and local ecosystems.
✅ Discussions & debates – Climate change, sustainable careers, environmental justice, influential environmental books, human rights and sustainability.
✅ Interactive activities – Nature walks, litter-picking challenges, ethical business panels, book swaps.
✅ Showcasing sustainability initiatives – Promote ongoing projects, fundraisers, advocacy campaigns, or research findings.
📍 Sustainability Fairs (Pop-Up Events)
These are outdoor events, so we encourage vendors to bring their own gazebo if possible (we have an indoor backup plan in case of bad weather). This is a great chance to connect with like-minded individuals, promote eco-friendly practices, and engage with an audience passionate about sustainability.
👉 To secure your spot, please register your interest by Friday 7th March by emailing sustainability@sunderland.ac.uk
