Gavin obtained a First Class Degree on the Law (LLB) course and was also awarded the ‘Outstanding Achievement in Law (Best Graduate)’ award. He now works at PGS Law, the biggest firm in South Tyneside, and qualified as a Solicitor in December 2013.
He said: “Upon graduation, the University of Sunderland introduced me to a local law firm who offered me some work experience. This undoubtedly provided a stepping stone from education towards where I am now and it is encouraging, particularly in an age where it is difficult to find employment after finishing a degree course, that the University is committed to helping graduates begin their careers. I would recommend the University of Sunderland to anyone thinking about studying law at degree level.
The 28-year-old, from Washington wanted to attend a local university as he said he has a strong connection with the area.
“After visiting the University of Sunderland for an Open Day, I was enthused by the friendly vibe and the modern feel to the campus,” he explained. “I made the decision to go to the University of Sunderland and it wasn’t long before I was certain that I had made the right choice to spend my next three years studying there.”
He added: “The most important factor which facilitated my success at the University of Sunderland was the quality and approachability of the lecturers. They are all very friendly and will quite happily spend time with individual students over and above scheduled lecture and seminar time to ensure that they fully understand what they are learning. This was particularly helpful in preparing for exams and for assignments.”
