Andy Sandoz has been given an honorary award by his home university – as he prepares to take over the UK’s most influential design role.
Andy Sandoz was awarded an Alumni Fellowship by the University of Sunderland at the summer graduation ceremonies in recognition of his outstanding contribution in the field of digital innovation and design.
Andy is a graduate of the University of Sunderland, Creative Partner of Havas Work Club and incoming President of the D&AD, the UK’s most influential design body.
He graduated from Sunderland with degree in Illustration and Design in 1995. A passionate advocate for the Internet as a power source for business and social change, Andy soon abandoned his pencil and paintbrush, working first as Chief Designer at Agency Republic, then moving on to work as a TV channel brander, designer, game designer, and 3D animator.
Andy co-founded Havas Work Club in 2007. As Creative Partner of the digital marketing agency he is interested in innovative methodologies and technologies that create new opportunities and help clients take advantage of the unfolding digital landscape.
He is a champion of British creativity, working with the Creative Social and The Marketing Academy.
In September 2015 Andy will officially take up the position of President of the D&AD, the UK’s most prestigious design and advertising educational charity which exists to promote excellence in these important disciplines.
He said: “My career has been about constant creative experimentation. This behaviour began with the course at Sunderland. It's great to renew the connection.”
