Cheung Chun Lam (Tony)
BSc Computer Science 2013
MBM 2015
Cheung is flying high after graduating with a Master’s Degree in Business Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from the University of Sunderland.
The 25-year-old is a Hong Kong based Cabin Crew member flying with Finnair between Helsinki and Hong Kong.
Cheung said: “I never imagined myself working in the Aviation Industry, however I had travelled a lot between the UK and Hong Kong and I enjoyed being on a plane. So when I finished my studies I decided to give it a go and I’m loving it!”
After ten years living in the UK, Cheung recently relocated to Hong Kong and is finding the transition a bit hard.
He said: “The lifestyle is so different in both countries and now I’m finding difficult to settle in again. But I’m happy with my job and I’m planning to keep working in the aviation industry.
“I’m going to complete a part-time aviation course so hopefully when I finish it I can become a pilot or a flight purser”.
Cheung was initially attracted to the University after attending an Open Day and falling in love with the St Peter’s campus. This is a decision he has never regretted.
“The friendliness of the staff really made this not only a University but a home. I particularly remember my lecturer Sharon McDonald who encouraged me to pursue a master’s degree. There were also other lecturers, Andy Turton and Rob Worrall which gave outstanding lectures and made the students feel very comfortable and confident.”
He continued: “I still remember the long days and nights studying at the Library. I also had a nice group of friends and we used to cook for each other. During the exams period we’d just order pizza while completing our assignments”.
