A student who battled against a double brain tumour two years into his degree at the University of Sunderland achieved his goal of graduating at the Stadium of Light after recovering from his illness and returning to his studies. Read more here.

Aman Sharma, co-founder of Northern Bear Films, a new Media Production company based at the University of Sunderland, celebrated the successful shoot of a brand new comedy short film set in the North Eastmade by successfully bidding for £5,000 of funding from the British Film Institute (BFI). Howzat - cricketer lands degree

Durham professional cricketer Ryan Pringle achieved a 2:1 degree in Sport and Exercise Science and received his award at the Stadium of Light just hours before taking on Yorkshire Vikings in a NatWest T20 Blast fixture. Read more here.
