The Vanacore family have had twice as many reasons to celebrate after identical twins Cassie and Heidi graduated from the same university, from the same course and with identical degrees.
The Middlesbrough family celebrated at the University of Sunderland’s 2014 graduation ceremonies at the Stadium of Light after the sisters completed their primary education postgraduate courses before going off to teach the next generation.
The 23-year-old twins might look like each other, but it is also their degrees that are identical with both passing their courses with flying colours after both achieved 2:1.
Cassie said: “It’s quite strange that we’ve both become trained teachers as we were quite different when we were younger. It’s great to be here though, it’s a great venue and to share it with my sister is a great feeling.
“The course might have only been a year, but although it was hard work and tough it’s been worth it. I can’t speak highly enough of the staff. Even if I wasn’t in the University because I was on a placement they were in regular contact to see how you were doing, supporting you and giving you advice.”
Heidi added: “I love the fact I can help inspire the next generation of children, I thoroughly enjoy learning new things and being able to pass bits of knowledge on and being successful is so rewarding.”
Both twins are now working as supply teachers after completing their courses and are hoping to stay in the North East and help the next generation reach their potential.
