Position and company: Contracts Manager at Majestic Engineering Co Ltd

Gibby Chau has over 30 years of experience in the electrical field. He recently graduated with a BEng (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Hong Kong College of Technology. His previous educational qualifications include a Higher Certificate in Building Services Engineering from Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 1995, a BSc (Hons) in Facilities Management from the University of Central Lancashire in 2011, and a Higher Diploma in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from HKCT in 2021.

Currently, he is working as a Contracts Manager at Majestic Engineering Co Ltd, and he is also an Executive Committee Member for the Hong Kong Electrical Contractors' Association.

Gibby Chau is proud of his academic achievements, having obtained a first class honour in his BEng and Distinction in Higher Diploma. He also received the ‘Academic Excellence’ award and scholarship from HKCT. Regarding his professional career achievements, he is proud of his recent promotion to Contracts Manager in 2022. In this position, he is leading a team of more than 40 colleagues and 300 workers.

Gibby Chau is currently working on a project called Kai Tak Sport Park, which includes a main stadium that can seat more than 60,000 people. He says it's his biggest challenge, and he hopes to complete it on time and become majestic icon of Hong Kong - "Pearl of the Orient".

During his studies at the Hong Kong College of Technology, Gibby Chau enjoyed studying electronics. He appreciated the caring attitude of his lecturers, which made his student experience very enjoyable.

Gibby Chau's advice to recent graduates entering the job market is to work hard, gain practical experience in the field, and be self-motivated and ambitious.

He is now studying a Master's degree and his plans include becoming a Chartered Engineer CEng shortly and completing the Kai Tak Sport Park project on time and successfully.
