Ella MacDougall, 21, from Bishop Auckland, is studying BA Animation and Games Art degree. She has been inspired by her time as a Davies Scholar, and is looking forward to fulfilling some of ambitions as she enters the final year of her degree.
“This year has been really good! I’ve done a wide variety of work, some of which I like and some of which I don’t - but I learnt from all of it.
“I just find it helps inspire me, seeing Mike Davies’ office building in London was really cool and it was interesting to find out that they use a game engine (Unreal Engine) in their process, as it is a program I am familiar with.
“I have used my Davies Scholarship to buy a new monitor because I found that I had not enough screen space to have my multiple programs up as well as references and photoshop etc, so that's been incredibly useful. I have also bought the Maxon Student Bundle which includes a lot of my 3D software that I need, so I could work from home more and didn’t need to go to University every day. Lastly, I bought substance painter on Steam so I could texture my 3D models from home.
“For next year I’m really looking forward to doing more environmental work as I think it’s really fun. I can’t wait to make another big, ambitious project.”
The Mike Davies Scholarship offers £1,500 per academic year for new students studying:
