Part time master’s student Kasia Parker was successfully awarded the Robson Masters Art and Design Scholarship to help support her academic journey.
Kasia studied MA Visual Practice and the funds allowed her to pursue her passion for art & design, explore new mediums and develop a more sustainable practice.
“Thanks to the Robson Art and Design Award, I was able to take a few weeks off and dedicate time to experimenting with plant-based materials, resulting in the creation of a range of botanical inks”, said Kasia. The scholarship also covered the costs of essential tools and materials to allowed her to continue working in installation and sculpture.
The time off work allowed Kasia to concentrate her efforts in developing skills and growing in confidence as an artist. This led to showcasing work in University exhibitions and The Sunderland Art Trail which as increased her visibility as an art community.
Kasia went on to say, “The confidence and skills gained through the support of the Robson Art and Design Award have set a strong foundation for my future endeavours. My work was spotted online by another artist, and I was invited to a residency in Northumberland in July where I will further develop my practice and collaborate with other creatives”.
“The Robson Art and Design Award has been instrumental in my artistic growth and professional development. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity and support provided by this scholarship. Being selected as a beneficiary has not only alleviated financial pressures but also given me the confidence to pursue my artistic ambitions”.
