We are delighted to announce that graduate Mark Learmouth (MPharm 2014) has joined the Hope Winch Committee. He currently works as a Clinical Pharmacist at City Hospitals Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust. Mark will also a the speaker at the 'Pharmacy...in the Real World' talk in January which will be focusing on Hospital Pharmacy.
Soon after graduating Mark started his pre-registration at Northumbria Healthcare working at Wansbeck General Hospital.
The 25-year-old said: "After an enjoyable year I was lucky enough to be offered a job at Sunderland Royal Hospital. After my induction to the hospital I have been working in the surgical directorate covering urology, ENT, vascular and colorectal wards.
"I have also had the chance to cover inpatient, outpatient and eye infirmary dispensaries."
Mark continued: "I am thoroughly enjoying my new job and I have recently gone back to the University of Sunderland to start my diploma in clinical pharmacy.
"During my pre-registration year I attended the clinical pharmacy congress and met up with fellow committee member Alison Beaney. After a catch up she asked me if I would like to join the Hope Winch Committee.
"I felt extremely privileged and honoured that Alison asked me to be a part of the Committee and I accepted her invitation without question. During the annual Hope Winch lecture this year I attended my first committee meeting and met the other members of the Committee.
"It was a very successful meeting and some great ideas were brought to the table. After the meeting I was asked to be a speaker at the Real World Event in January which I accepted.
"I look forward to seeing many 4th year students there and I will speaking about my pre-registration experience and answering any questions students may have. See you in January!"
