The Sir Tom Cowie Sunderland Award 2025-26
The University is the recipient of a generous donation to support local students via the Sir Tom Cowie Sunderland Award.
This award honours the memory and motivations of Sir Tom who was a long term benefactor of the University. Recipients must be a full-time undergraduate studying a course of selected subject disciplines* and should be at the end of their penultimate year (second year for standard programmes or third year for four year programmes.) You must be on track for a 1st or high 2:1 degree classification and you must be from the City of Sunderland.
This award is non repayable and is non means tested.

How to Apply
Applications are now open for academic year 2025-26.
You can apply for this scholarship using your University E-Vision account .
Potential applicants are encouraged to contact the Development team to discuss their application in line with the specified criteria below.
If your application does not meet the requirements then it will not be shortlisted to be put forward to the committee. Applications close midnight 31st May 2025.
