Mechanical Engineering student William Sutton secured the Dovre Scholarship to help him through his final year to help alleviate financial struggles.

William used some of the money with accommodation cost due to having to move during his 3rd year, “The Dovre Scholarship has greatly benefitted me throughout my third year at university as it allowed me to move into accommodation at a time where I was struggling to find somewhere to plant my feet whilst completing my studies. This was a major help to me as it reduced my stress over the last year of my course as worrying about where I would be having to move and how to afford it was no longer an issue at the time.”

With the scholarship taking away some of those financial pressures William was able to focus more on his course going on to achieve over 80% is most of his modules. As well as this the funds helped pay towards transport to his part time work where is attained full time employment after graduating.

William said, “The scholarship assisted in paying for my travel pass to get to and from campus on days when I needed to attend in person. This also meant that I had a method to getting to and from my part-time job which helped me to secure a contract within that company. I don’t believe I would have been able to achieve any of this without the support provided from their funding.”
