Sean Green
BA (Hons) Photography, Video and Digital Imaging 2015
Sean works as a senior market researcher at Frank Recruitment Group in Newcastle.
“My job is in data acquisition, so my main role is sourcing new clients and candidates for our consultants and tech brands to target. I also assist with staff training,” he explained.
Asked about his greatest achievement to date he replied: “We always hit targets which is a great achievement every time, and I was promoted within a year and a half to a senior which I’m very proud of.”
Talking about his biggest challenge, he said: “Definitely learning new skills. I hadn’t used Excel properly before, so that was a challenge. Luckily, Frank Recruitment Group offers excellent hands-on training and support—not just when you first join, but throughout your career here.”
Sean, whose passion is photography, was attracted to the University of Sunderland because of its facilities.
He said: “The University has the best facilities in the UK for the course. When I applied they were opening a brand new facility at St Mary’s: the Northern Centre of Photography, and the darkroom and studio facilities are second-to-none.”
Asked about his abiding memory from the University, Sean commented: “Sunderland is such a friendly city and the feeling of community will stay with me forever. It’s easy to get around and had everything I needed as a student. There are some great social life opportunities and even a specialist photography store where students can get supplies at discount.”
Sean’s advice to current students is to make the most of the facilities and resources available during their time here, for example the Careers and Employability service.
He advised: “When I graduated myself, I got my first job in the Careers service at the University actually! I can honestly say that it’s a really great service to help you get a leg up in employment. Current students should make use of the CV reviews, interview coaching, work experience teams and volunteer fairs.
“One particularly excellent thing about the University of Sunderland is the graduate schemes and internship opportunities they offer; these are exclusively held for Sunderland graduates.
“I attended a graduate fair and this was where I found Frank Recruitment Group too.”
He concluded: “I’d like to make more progress at my current job, and find new ways to utilise my skills in graphics and photography in my free time.”
