Alumna in Uzbekistan is being recognised

An alumna from the University of Sunderland has been named a finalist in this year’s prestigious British Council Alumni Awards in Uzbekistan. Graduating in 2022, Aleksandra Lee, is now a brand manager for LLC East West Invest responsible for designing and creating packaging for a variety of products.

A marathon effort to inspire young students

A University of Sunderland graduate who was struck down with a rare neurological disorder that brought him to the brink of death is now set to run the TCS London Marathon. In January 2024, Mark Learmouth became seriously ill with Guillain-Barre syndrome, a condition in which the body's immune system attacks the peripheral nervous system. It was while he was recovering in hospital in April last year, he watched the London Marathon and decided that he would use the race to motivate him to get fit again.

Sunderland ranks amongst the world’s best

The University of Sunderland has secured its global standing once again in the 2025 edition of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings by Subject.
