BA Illustration and Design 2019 graduate, Lauren Young, is a freelance illustrator offering bespoke illustration and design services. Influenced by the County Durham and Northumberland countryside, Lauren's illustrations are vibrant, full of colour and detailed.

Graduating in June 2019 with First Class Honours in Illustration and Design, Lauren was presented with the special Ede and Ravenscroft Award by the University of Sunderland for displaying flair, enterprise and potential in her work.

Lauren joined the Enterprise Place in November 2019 and has since started selling her beautiful illustrations through Etsy, craft fairs, local shops and is producing specialist commission work.

Her bespoke creations include illustrative branding, wedding stationery, pet portraits, greeting cards and more. Lauren uses modern calligraphy, water colours, inks, paints and digital editing to create her unique designs.

Recently, Lauren has created greeting cards which are printed on wildflower seed paper so you can give the gift of a card and flowers in one go!

Lauren was awarded funding from the Santander UK Enterprise Seed Fund that allowed her to purchase a new iMac and more recently granted the Santander Covid Assistance Fund to help her business continue to grow during these difficult times.

"I’m grateful for the workshops and one to one advice sessions the Enterprise Place offers, it has given me the confidence to take that leap of faith to become a female entrepreneur. I hope I can inspire and empower other female creatives to have the courage to take the first step in starting their own freelance journey.”
