A presentation with independent pharmacy historian and curator Briony Hudson and Emeritus Professor Malcolm Hooper. Briony is the author of the Sunderland Pharmacy Centenary brochure and Professor Hooper trained as a Pharmacist but spent most of his career teaching and researching at the University of Sunderland. In the event they talk about the history of Pharmacy over the years.

On 25th of February we held the first of our Centenary events, with special guest - Andrew Lane, chair of the National Pharmacy Association. Andrew discussed the challenges and opportunities for Community Pharmacy throughout 2021 and beyond. We also had a Q&A session at the end.

Enjoy a virtual tour around a typical Edwardian chemist business with dispensary and aerated water sections. Some pieces from the display were donated by the School of Pharmacy at Sunderland.

Dr Yitka Graham, Head of Helen McArdle Nursing and Care Residential Institute and Associate Professor for Health Services Research, delivers a presentation on International Women's Day 2021 about Women Leaders in Health for Sunderland. She talks about Hope Constance Monica Winch who set up the Sunderland Pharmacy department in 1921.
